Memory Allocation Strategy in Edge Programmable Logic Controllers Based on Dynamic Programming and Fixed-Size Allocation

With the explosive growth of data at edge in Industrial Internet Things (IIoT), devices are increasingly performing more processing tasks to alleviate load on cloud servers. To achieve this goal, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) gradually transitioning into PLCs. However, efficiently executing a large number computational memory-limited PLCs is significant challenge. Therefore, there need design an efficient memory allocation strategy for This paper proposes dynamic It adopts approach organizing small blocks handle requests from real-time and utilizes well-performing programming method resource problems non-real-time tasks. ensures performance while improving efficiency task processing. In simulation experiments, algorithm implemented based compared with default several open-source allocators. The experimental results demonstrate that proposed algorithm, average, improves speed by 13.7% achieves maximum improvement 17.0% show effectively environments.
